What is Cycling Coaching?

Cycling Coaching and Coaching in general terms, stems from an old Anglo-Saxon word for a carriage meaning that coaching takes you from where you are now to where you want to be.

Coaching is an art form and as a coach of another we are facilitators of performance, learning and development.

Some examples of what Cycling Coaching is all about:

  • Unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their performance
  • Coaching is about performing at your best through individual and private assistance
  • A coach is someone who will challenge, stimulate and guide you to keep growing
  • Coaching is about GETTING RESULTS and helping clients understand their way of overcoming problems
  • Coaching will assist a client in defining what they want, removing obstacles, setting goals taking into account values and purpose, striving for balance and fulfilment.

How does PCS Cycling Coaching work?

Your coach builds your cycling coaching program from scratch every 3 months, using information from your Athlete Profile and Enrolment Form, Field Tests, and ongoing personal interaction. On a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis (depending on your level of membership), your coach reviews your diary, and any power files or heart rate files you provide, and adjusts your program accordingly. Frequent communication is encouraged so your coach can better monitor your progress and provide guidance for optimal performance.

A common misconception about structured training programs is that “I can’t do my own thing!” With a PCS training program, this could NOT be further from the truth. Because your program is designed specifically for your needs and goals there are a number of factors we consider.  
These include your:  

  • available time to train  
  • available training days  
  • history  
  • goals  
  • strengths and weaknesses  
  • other commitments (for example your work, your family, your partner, dog, budgie and band camp)
